Diablo 2 is probably the best iteration of the series. Back when Blizzard still cared about making a great game.

If you've played D2 or even D1 practically the same as D3. Its still hack and slash like D3, but the difference is D1 & D2 (especially the latter) allows more control of how you build your character. Unlike D3 where all you do when you level up is choose what skill to learn, D2 actually lets you assign the points to your character stats (strength, dexterity, magic, etc.) in addition to a better skill tree so you can really have different charcaters even if they are of the same class.

I played D2 as a kid, and recently also around 4 years ago. In all its 800x600 glory.

It felt more difficult and builds were more nuanced than D3. I was hoping the D2 Remaster captured all that in 4K 60 fps.

Play path of exile....free to play on ps5 ps4 xbox and PC.

Hardcore diablo with millions of character builds .... perfect for Phil Sci graduates like you. You need strong math skills hehe to analyze the interactions and dependencies of the crazy uber vast skill tree.

Every 3 months there is a new "league". This current league is uber difficult so i took a pause.
