Leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has announced that the much-awaited LTE technology will be commercially available beginning August 25, making the Philippines among the early adaptors of the technology worldwide.
Called Long Term Evolution (LTE), this latest advance in mobile broadband technology can deliver download and upload speeds of up to 42 mbps. In the near future, LTE will be able to provide speeds of up 100 mbps.
But just like the Skyway, that fast access speed comes at a premium price: Smart’s LTE, for example, is available for P3,500 a month for 10GB of bandwidth, with an option to purchase more bandwidth at P450 per 1GB.
It sure felt that way, as we at TechLokal experienced download speeds as high as 80.19Mbps—or in layman’s terms, a 735MB file downloaded in just 9 minutes.

Errr, refarming now wont do them any good either since current lte devices (e.g. Ipad 3 and upcoming iphone) uses different frequency band with that of smart's 3G and 2G band
