Not surprising. Automotive companies (particularly in the US) practice this, too.
Edmunds.com just won a suit against a company for fake positive user reviews of a dealership chain on their website.

Thetruthaboutcars.com former editors Niedermeyer and Schmitt claim that they've traced many user accounts to manufacturer IPs. Many car manufacturers hate that site because of their exposes in the time leading up to the market crash in 2008.
Don't be surprised if the supposedly "unbiased" forums and user-contributed sites like Fuelly.com have their own shills and fakers.

i'm not surprised. even Microsoft does this. the most recent case was their attempted damage control for XBox One privacy and DRM issues. they paid a lot of people to put up positive comments on reddit and other online forums.

uso din to sa mga food blogs, ive heard a story na isang sikat na restaurant na inalok ng internet media exposure for a fee, nung di pumayag yung restaurant owner dahil mahal yung fee, nagbanta ng maglalabas sila ng mga negative reviews and comment about the restaurant.
