    It usually is.

Wyze works with existing HW OEMs but then improves upon the existing design and software. Overall, this makes it cheaper to R&D and produce.

This is a comparison between the Mi Robot Vacuum Mop (STYTJ01ZHM) vs Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro (STYTJ02YM). The models are sometimes designated as STYJ01ZHM and STYTJ02YM. Not sure what the addition T in STYT is for.

Mi Robot Vacuum Mop (STYTJ01ZHM) is Php10,990 SRP on Shopee and the Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro (STYTJ02YM) is Php15,990 SRP. Got both with discounted prices during 11.11 sale, Php8,711 and Php12,606.

The Vacuum Mop is a global version (Russian on the box) and the Vacuum Mop Pro is a Chinese version. You can only use the Mi Home App with the Chinese version if you select Chinese mainland as your region. The global one you can set to any region. The Mi Home app for the global Vacuum Mop is on an iPad (iOS) and the Chinese Mop Pro is on an Android mobile phone. If your device is both the global or both Chinese versions, you can use just 1 Mi Home app.

Have only tried the vacuum function of these devices and not the mop function. Used both for 5 days. The devices clean different areas with the Vacuum Mop Pro cleaning a larger area.

Mi Robot Vacuum Mop (STYTJ01ZHM) is the lower model between the two but it has newer design elements even though it was released just 2-3 months after the Mop Pro. Newer design elements compared to the Mop Pro are:

    • The water tank is separate from the main dust bin. It is installed outside the body instead of in the same place as the dust bin.

    • The front wheel can be detached from the wheel assembly, easier to clean and remove hairs.

    • The dust bin is designed better, there are no nooks and crannies for dust to get stuck in and less sharp edges inside. But it's still a lower model and the dust bin plastic is made of breakable material unlike the Mop Pro.

    • It goes into sleep mode when docked and fully charged (the Mop Pro does not do this).

Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro (STYTJ02YM) is a higher model. The additional features of this model are:

    • Has LIDAR so more efficient cleaning pattern. (But not much difference for smaller areas). More on this below.

    • Stores multiple maps.

    • Maps can be divided into rooms. Useful for large homes where some areas are not cleaned frequently.

    • Dust bin has better quality plastic (not easily cracked).

    • It detects if the dust bin is removed (Vacuum Mop model does not detect this).

    Dislikes with the Mop Pro:

    • It will not go into sleep mode when docked and fully charged (it's say so in the manual). Have to move it forward to detach from the dock for it to go into sleep mode. It discharges 3% battery life every hour.

    • The dust bin leaks a little dust into the cavity hold where you slide the dust bin into. Has something to do with the design of the rubber seal of the opening.

    • Can't change the language of the Chinese version. You can just lower the volume or turn off the voice prompts of the robot vacuum. Mi Home app can be set to English though.

    • Fewer sellers of parts and consumables compared to the Vacuum Mop.

    • Water tank has leaking issues (search for it online). But there's supposedly a fix already.

    How do they clean?

The Vacuum Mop starts cleaning in a zigzag pattern. After a few cycles, it will be able to "map" out the area. When it finishes cleaning the area, it will then clean the border of the area (it will skirt around the perimeter of the area). It usually slows down before it hits an object or wall if it has been defined before in the map.

The Vacuum Mop Pro cleans faster, it scans the area first (or uses the rooms defined if available) and decides the boundaries of the room within an area. It will then go around the perimeter of the room then cleans in a zigzag pattern. The difference is it doesn't bump into walls during the zigzag pattern. After the first cycle, it builds a map which can then be divided into rooms manually using the Mi Home app. Again, for smaller areas, the cleaning time difference is not that much.

Both have scheduling feature using the Mi Home app. You can have several schedules with the Mop Pro able to select which rooms to clean depending on the schedule. Some rooms you clean daily, some every 2 days, others once a week, etc. Both can do spot cleaning. You define an area to clean by drawing a rectangle on the map using the app.

    Which to buy?

For smaller areas (50-60 square meters or less), the Mi Vacuum Mop (STYTJ01ZHM) can do the job. It can sleep while docked and fully charged. It has more updated (minor) design elements compared to the Mop Pro and it's cheaper by Php5,000. You can clean areas with more traffic more frequently using the spot clean feature of the app.

What about the Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro (STYTJ02YM)?

Suitable for larger areas with a lot of rooms and areas that do not need to be cleaned as often as other areas. In one room, there are areas that do not need to be cleaned as much. Like the edges of rooms that are away from doors and windows or areas that have very little traffic. Also suitable for areas with a lot of moving objects like chairs, toys, etc.

The main advantage of this model is that you can define rooms and as stated above you can set schedules for how frequently a room or group of rooms are to be cleaned. But if you have a small area (50-60 square meters), this isn't really a deal breaker. There is also lesser to no bumping into objects / walls.

It's up to you to decide whether the following features are worth the extra Php5,000:

    • Convenience of automated cleaning schedule of rooms / zones.

    • Lesser to no bumping (which isn't really a big deal).

    • Dust box removal detection.

    • Faster cleaning time.

    Shopee bestdeal_online for the STYTJ01ZHM ...

One more thing about the STYTJ01ZHM is that it works better when there's light since it uses a camera ... which might not be ok for some with privacy issues ...
