The best circuit/drift racing simulator for me is Battle Gear 2 by NAMCO. You can almost feel the G's, and it gets more enjoyable depending on the configuration and responsiveness of the steering wheel.
Here's where I practised left foot braking.
Also, drifting an FWD and 4WD is also extremely doable here.
Plus you get to see some quick specs of the car. However, it's too old a machine and the latest models they can give would be the r34 and evo vi makinen edition.

mas tunay ang feeling sa race07 and other sim racing if you have a real forcefeedback wheel... battle gear is just arcade..
for the sake of my curiousness i tried out battle gear 2 and 3 :bwahaha: (i don't usually play at arcades unless may mga kaibigang manlilibre)
must admit it felt good drifting out there hahaha  can't wait to try it in rFactor with an FFB wheel![]()
Oh I LOVED BG2. It's a sim masquerading as an arcade game. Back in the day when the Initial D arcade games were laughably unrealistic (IDAS5 is pretty much spot-on in handling realism now though), I went to BG2 to challenge myself.
It's notable how the FR and MR vehicles here are much easier to rotate vs. FFs and 4WDs. Taito got its vehicle dynamics correct. Much of BG2's character is actually still intact in its sequels BG3 and BG4 - not that it needed much changing because it got a lot of things right.
BTT
I'm still soldiering on with Gran Turismo 4 on PS2. For realism, I turn all driver aids off - stability control and traction control all set to zero. After my trackday experience, GT4 is very good in terms of replicating a car's handling balance under different throttle positions. Using the analog buttons on the DualShock2 isn't the most natural thing, but it's easy to get used to varying the pressure on the throttle and brake.
A bonus with turning driver aids off is it allows me to go properly sideways. The Amuse S2000 Street Version is so fun to hold in a long drift around Tsukuba and Twin Ring Motegi's full road course.

I think gt4 is realistic enough for the console, medyo may pagka "bump car" nga lang yung physics ng GT series.
GT5 is another story though, realism is topnotch thanks to the revamped physics as I've tested in the GT academy demo last february. no more excessive unrealistic screeching of tires and bump car physics...
You should try Rfactor or GTR2 with everything off. Kung free lang sana ako ng weekends eh![]()

Actually I find the tire screeching realistic. When you're pushing the car on an actual trackday, your ears had better get used to your tires screaming for dear life.
Not all tire screeching is inherently bad however - on a road car gunning for a fastest lap in a time attack, my instructor taught me that tires are at their grippiest when at their max slip angle. The trick is to exploit this slip angle and not to overstep it - and exploiting this invariably takes some noise.
School me on "bump car physics" please.
srph host races kadalasan every night mga 9pm :] kung ilan ang availability ng players dun kame nag hohost =) try visiting our forums if you have time sir :]
as for battle gear series and gt series.. its really different from rfactor, gtr evo, gtr2 and other sim racing games.. realistic talaga pag naka off lahat ng aids.. parang ur driving a real car/racecar :]
The term is "excessive". i know screeching is prevalent in real racing but in the gran turismo series they just put too much in.
about bumper car physics, search the word "bumper car gran turismo" on google. They could explain it better than I.
Nice, I see you race in real life. I've tried karting back in high school but i'm no expert, not even a novice. I quit because my nerves just can't take it. sa sim racing lang natutupad ang "race driver" frustration ko
kaya sali na sa SRPH. incognito nga lang ako dun. lurker lang hehe.
Yep.![]()

See, that's the difference. I drive on the racetrack for real. My car has no ABS, no traction control, absolutely nothing to save my butt if I go into a corner too hot.

After four trackdays and setting good laptimes in an underpowered, bone-stock car, BG and GT4 are pretty realistic enough for me.The more trackdays I participate in, the more I appreciate GT4's realism with all driver aids off. It's a good practice tool.
Just my two centavos

I think you misread Dbrady's post, or his post is just badly worded. I believe he says GTR2/Rfactor's physics are better than GT4's.
here's an earlier post of his:
I visited Dbrady's site (is he the admin there?) at http://s1.zetaboards.com/srph/index/ they only play Rfactor and GTR2 (Race 07 is based on the same physics engine) over there.
I've read in the introduction boards that he's a TRS instructor so I guess he can explain it better than I. afaik, Some are members of real life drift teams.
I've attended several track meets so I myself am not a total dumbass when it comes to racing. Although I have to admit I have to learn a lot to control my nerves.
I still think GT4 caters to mainstream racing fans, while Rfactor/GTR2 to the hardcore. and also GT4 does have basic stock cars unlike Rfactor/GTR2, those games contains only race cars (depending on the mod), there lies the difference.
One thing missing in ANY sim racing game is the sensation of wheel lock tho.
So please join one of SRPh's online matches to feel the difference between GT4 and Rfactor/GTR2, I was once a Gran Turismo series fanboy too, but since I've tried both, I find Rfactor/GTR2 to be more enjoyable especially with an FFB wheel. imho.
PS: you don't have to post your track day videos, I've been following your thread and you're adorable GD. (and a fan as well)![]()
Maybe someday we can have a track day with my bonestock suzuki swift.![]()
