linux is a free and great OS, only problem there is too many linux distribution, lol
but next year there will be a standardized linux core, so all major distro will have a standard set of packages and even a unified GUI interface. so the wait is not really that long.
google office is just a rumor at this point, but rumors say they are working on a web based office suite, as opposed to traditional desktop office suite like openoffice or ms office.
way things are going, Microsoft is slowly sinking.

kung pang-personal puede yan pero kung pang-corporate medyo malabo, yun mga programs na gawa ng MSDN like Visual Basic, MS Access & Frontpage dependent sa MS office objects.

exactly wala ang corporations choice kasi naka lock in sila, mahirap ba i incorporate sa MS office suite ang suppport sa Opendocuments.
yung Commonwealth of Massachusets, nakita nila, na san kanakakakita ang Vendor ng Software nag didictate kung ano kailangan ng Organization/businesss? Sabi ng Microsoft hindi nila i support ang Opendocuments kaya bahala kayo sa buhay nyo. Incidentally gusto nila ipalamon sa Commenwealth another XML based proprietary format which is same footing in terms of hardship in integrating that feature with opendocuments.
Ang mahal mahal pa ng MSoffice license, almost cost na nag PC
