True. I'll see. Medyo di ko kasi ma-justify pa ang cost at this time. I know na bababa rin ito very soon. Ang gusto ko kasi talaga Cree bulbs. Gusto ko rin pag-aralan yung sinasabi nila sa mga fora na "LED driver circuits".

Yung GES ok na yung price. Kasi ROI mo naman is around 10months if from 23w to 7w replace mo.

Pero ako, I'm currently experimenting with china-sourced LED bulbs din. Almost 50% cheaper. Yun nga lang gamble muna sa warranty. Try mo muna quality. Yung Omni and NxLED ko almost 3 months ko na gamit 24/7 so far ok naman. No issues parin.

So far, wala bang naka-experience ng aberya using the LED bulbs? (sparks, fire/smoke et al)

Same here, waiting for the economy of scale to settle in.

sa almost 3 months ko na gamit wala naman out of the ordinary nangyari. at first mahal din tingin ko sa LED. pero nung nag post si oj88 ng sample computation, i was convinced. kasi less than 1 year nga naman yung ROI. and to think na around 1 year din average life span ng CFL. inisip ko nalang na break even naman ako kahit masira in 1 year yung LED. after that savings na.

Yeah, also curious here kung meron itong potential to start a fire. Yung mga china branded CFLs kasi, there were "reports" na sumasabog at nagiistart ng fire.

I've been playing with LEDs since I was a kid. I normally destroy my toy cars to take out the motorpoly to create a helicopter with size D batteries as its main body. Then I install a LED.

I discovered that if you overdrive a LED with voltage way up its normal operating range, it will just die. If you're lucky, it will blacken. I've tried so many times to make it pop via overvoltage pero never happened.

Get one with a UL approval/accreditation for safety.

"Firefly" is a cheap low-end brand. No point in making fakes for it.

depends talaga yan sa manufacturer. pero locally, considered branded na din kasi yung Akari. and yung GES naman, making its name already for LED bulbs. searched the net pero walang bad reviews ako na nakikita for GES. for Akari, may interference daw sa AM radio.

Right bro.,- I am not concerned about the LED starting a spark... It is a solid state diode that will just 'break' if you run a huge current through it by applying overvoltage (as it has a constant voltage drop across it, depending on the material).

What I am worried about are the other components in the circuit...

LED bulbs and tubes is powered by a circuit similar to a laptop power supply. Switching AD/DC converters and regulators and they are surface mounted into a metal type PCB board. The LED wafer(chips) are wire bonded directly to the board and will just fuse open at the end of their lives.

Any electrical device may cause fire if the manufacturer neglects safety requirements. To be safe, always look for the safety marks. CE, UL.

Chinese manufactures? They even counterfeit airbags and produce artificial eggs.

Okay talaga akari, comparable with Phillips and GE imho.

Yung focus (18W) at firefly namin na 15 watts sinubukan ko liwanag vs a 12W GE. Anak ng tipaklong, mas maliwanag pa GE eh. Same with 18W focus. Seldom used kasi kaya akala ko okay na yung mumurahin.

Never na ako bibili or magpapabili ng Firefly or Focus! PS my ass!

Ang gusto ko sa LED light bulb ay hindi mainit ang ilaw. Hindi umiinit ang room.

Have been using GES only. pag may napunding CFL, pinapalitan ng LED.
