Cheap or branded? Depends, with cost usually getting the highest consideration.

Our first laptop was a low-spec ASUS (Celeron pa yung processor). It was a semi-impulse buy at the 0% Installment Madness sa Glorietta. Laki ng pakinabang namin dun, helped us a lot in our business. We even managed to do a bit of video editing, kahit soooooooobrang bagal ng rendering. The 2-year warranty was also reassuring. Alas, we had to sell it after a year since we started yearning for better specs without hurting the wallet too much.

Which brings us to our current laptop, a NEO Empriva 540NX. Relatively faster processor (Core Duo), double the RAM (512GB) better screen orientation (cinema view) integrated webcam, DVD+/- burner, tapos bundled na yung original software. So far okay naman siya, no problems encountered. Shorter warranty (1 year), pero ayos na rin.

Medyo naiinis lang kami pag nakikita namin yung Empriva 540NX2 (Core 2 Duo), retailing for the same price that we bought the earlier model for. That's life.

    i'd go for branded laptops.

for me, a branded laptop without local support and warranty is better than a cheap laptop with warranty and local support.

i suggest branded but hindi brands like sony or fujitsu... for me they are overpriced... i have a centrino lifebook... ang bilis sobra uminit... my lap liiterally umiinit din pag gamit ko sa bed... kaya nga lagi ko gamit sa desk nlng eh... masama daw sa balls ang laptop...

Whatever you do, do not get a DELL!!! Our experience has so far been so bad sinusuka namin sila.

HP/Compaq/IBM/Apple/Toshiba are some that come to mind. For warranty, depends on the use. Like our Dell experience, the computer had problems right after its warranty expired. Nasira yung motherboard dahil sa nasira yung cooling fan. We replaced the board and the fan, and the fan went bad right after its warranty expired as well!! We did not have the extended warranty thinking since it was a Dell, it shouldn't have problems. We've had our Compaq computer now and it's been problem free since we bought the CPU.

In comparison, my old Compaq laptop has some LCD problems but it's working properly aside from that LCD problem. So does my mom's HP laptop, my sister's Compaq laptop, and my dad's old Toshiba laptop (Win 95 pa!). My dad gave me the Compaq laptop when he got an iBook, and that's what he uses.

branded mas maganda... less sakit ng ulo

pero gaya ng sinabi ni mbeige iwas kyo sa dell...medyo sirain..parang nagkaroon pa yata to ng recall sa cooling fan.....
