Intel Pentium 4 1.6Ghz Intel Atom 1.6Ghz
Which is faster at typical tasks such as web surfing, document and spreadsheets?
Assuming the same hardware specifications (memory, hard disk) on either computers. And both are running MS Windows XP.
I am just wondering if I should upgrade an existing system (P4/1.6ghz) using an Atom based system or should I go Intel Pentium dual-core since the Atom based system is cheaper and uses less power.Last edited by ghosthunter; May 11th, 2009 at 02:19 PM.

The P4 is an old chip already so I would say the Atom might perform better... Pero kung kaya mag Dual Core mas ok yun kasi yung Atom pang low end na netbooks yun eh...

Go dual-core.
Atom is really made for low-power consumption which is a factor in mobile devices where battery life is a concern. For desktop use, the P4 would likely be superior over the Atom, everything else being equal.
