Automobili Lamborghini pair and tie up with a THIRD WORLD communications company with a THIRD WORLD internet speeds? That's an insult to the Lamborghini name so its obvious Lamborghini (Automobili) won't risk their name collaborating with Globe. Even the collaboration with the Lamborghini (clothing) is dubious...

In fairness to our local telecoms, particularly Globe, mas mabilis ang mobile internet natin dito compared to Singapore and Hong Kong. I used Globe's Bridge DataRoam Unlimited when I travelled to these 2 places this year and ang bagal ng internet sa iPhone ko. Whereas, when I travel from Tarlac to Manila, naka MyWi ang iPhone ko sa our iPads can connect to the internet via my iPhone, kaya manood sa youtube ng walang putol.

It looks like the fight between Tonino Lamborghini and Globe Telecom is far from over as the Italian fashion and lifestyle brand claims the Philippine telecommunication company's arrangement with Primo Mobile is invalid.

Globe earlier said it obtained an authorization to use the Tonino Lamborghini name and logo via Primo Mobile, a Singapore-based company said to have held a master license agreement with Tonino Lamborghini s.r.l.

A statement from the Tonino Lamborghini Group shared via its Facebook page clarified that Primo Mobile was only granted a trademark license and not a master license or a master franchise. More importantly, the statement also says the license agreement was terminated by Tonino Lamborghini s.r.l., "some months ago."

"In any case, such trademark license agreement did not authorize Primo Mobile to sub-license the use of the Tonino Lamborghini trademark and logo," the statement concluded.

It seems then that Primo Mobile has a lot of explaining to do to Globe Telecom.

Yeah I find it odd for a totally different company to be given the right to SUB-LICENSE the brand of another. Normally mga ganyan non-transferable yan you have the right to use the brand but don't have the right to transfer, sell, or grant anyone else to use the same rights to the brand. Only the brand owner may do that... Nako PRIMO is in a lot of $**T, Globe too for being too careless and not knowing that Primo does not have the right...

    "Truth in Advertising"

The thing here is from a legal stand point, presuming the liscensing from Singapore is valid and just a misunderstanding, they never claimed Lamborghini vehicle as the heritage to the broadband stick.

Though ethical speaking, the ad is for me very unethical even if they never mentioned Lamborghini Automobil, the use of a Lamborghini vehicle and a race car driver in the commercial is very misleading. They even made the engine of the vehicle in the commercial transform to a USB stick, so even without claiming it, it was fairly obvious what they wanted people to believe.

Guess they skipped Primo and went to the big huncho. Something they should have done in the first place...

AYALA-led Globe Telecommunications Inc. said Thursday that it has communicated with a renowned Italian watchmaker that accused the company of illegally using its trademark.

Yoly Crisanto, corporate communications head of Globe, told Sun.Star that the company is doing its best to clarify the issue with Tonino Lamborghini s.r.l., whose seal and name was used for Globe's premium mobile broadband stick.

Out in the market since June, the "4G Tattoo Tonino Lamborghini" carries speeds of up to 10 megabytes per second or roughly five times faster than regular broadband sticks. It is priced at P2,199.

"We are doing that (talking to Tonino Lamborghini s.r.l.) right now. As soon as I have anything from our legal department, we will post it too," Crisanto said in a text message.

Lamborghini s.r.l., the firm which sells luxurious watches, said last Wednesday that Globe committed "serious trademark infringement" and it is ready to file cases against the Filipino telco to protect its brand.

But in a statement, Globe said it had obtained authorization to use the name and logo of Tonino Lamborghini through an agreement with Primo Mobile, the master franchisor of mobile phone related products for the Italian company.

Primo Mobile is a Singapore-based firm that has a master license agreement with Tonino Lamborghini s.r.l. and is duly authorized to sub-license the use of the iconic 'raging bull' image.

"The design of the Globe Tattoo Tonino Lamborghini 4G broadband sticks was reviewed and approved by Primo Mobile," Globe said.

Sun.Star tried to reach Rita D'Andrea, Lamborghini s.r.l.'s corporate ommunications head for comment but she has not replied to an e-mail inquiry since Wednesday.

Saying it will not engage in a situation that would jeopardize its name, Globe likewise assured customers of its "strong adherence and commitment to the highest ethical standards in business and good corporate governance."

Globe shares closed nearly two percent higher at P917 each on Thursday from Wednesday's P901.50.
