The Electricity Saving Thread

Has anyone tried that gadget that you plug into your socket? I think it's called "Power Saver ___". They usually demo it in Ace Hardware or Handyman. Does it really work?

The theory actually works IF your electrical load is mostly electric motors. But if your load is electronics and lighting, it won't make much of a difference.

I tried it a few years back in my first computer rental shop since I had two window type aircons & a small ref aside from the computers. Unfortunately there wasn't much of a change beyond the typical month-to-month variation in my electric bill.
