It's your money. Just think you are just paying for the brand name which isn't worth much after a year.
The reason why people buy computers is to use them. If they are difficult to use, that machine has failed its primary purpose.
Just giving you my advise. But at the end of the day, it is your money.

My daughter just bought her netbook. The brand's MSI. What can you say about this brand?

I was checking out newegg.com. Looking at the top rated netbooks by buyers, ASUS was the top choice with 12 netbooks earning a perfect 5:
ASUS: 12
MSI: 7
Acer: 6
Samsung: 4
Lenovo: 3
Toshiba: 1

If thats so, I have the exact same netbook although I have done a few things already like upgrade the battery to nine cells and replaced the original 250gb hdd with a WD 500gb hdd.
The U100+ does have it's short comings like:
-no bluetooth
-the left/right button under the touchpad is sometimes difficult to click
-screen brightness still too bright even in the minimum setting.
-built-in speakers are crap!
-eco mode seems not to help much to extend batt life
-unit tends to tip backwards if you tilt the screen back.
Beyond the shortcomings it does have it's good side:
-big keyboard
-battery pack tilts keyboard to a more ergonomic angle to type
-easy to access internals for upgrades and mods
-runs either Windows, Mac OS or Linux with no problems
-decent looks
-decently big hdd (250gb)Last edited by ghosthunter; October 17th, 2009 at 12:04 AM.

please help me choose between the 2 netbooks for my gradeschool daughter.
ACER / ASUS
proc: n270 / n280
ram: 1gb / 2gb
hd: 160 / 160
screen: 8.9 / 10.1
os: - / xph
batt: 7hrs / 8hrs
cond: 8mos / New
price diff=6K
usage: browsing at home (with external monitor keyboard mouse)
browsing outside. (facebook games, word, ol games, movies)
worth it ba yung price diff nila in terms of useability? ramdam ba yung 1in difference ng screen size?

The bigger screen does make a difference. Also the Acer Aspire One 9" model has a smaller keyboard than the Asus EEE-PC.
Also having 2gb ram does make a difference in the performance of Windows XP.
CPU, between N270 and N280, there is not much difference in real world performance. I know since I had an AAO before and now my netbook features a N280 cpu.
personally, i'd think thrice, before buying that toyota brand new rack and pinion, to fix my 2003...
