has anyone found how to put the desktop icon on the task bar???

after installing W7 the first thing i noticed that it freed up 7gb of HD space. after checking again it freed another 3gb, so vista really had so much excess baggage...

on taskbar, there is a button right beside where the time and date displays are, that is the "show desktop" icon/button. Btw, It doesn't look like a button.

My ancient circa 1998 Hauppage WinTV PCI tv tuner still works with Vista on my wife's pc.

Typically, it's the driver/application software and not the hardware which have problems.
compatibility mode? sounds foreign to me. how will i activate it? TIA.

In addition you can place your cursor there (bottom right of the screen) without even clicking and it will reveal the desktop, remove the cursor there and it will show back the windows again. Click it and its equivalent to the desktop button of old versions of Windows. I like it!

You can right click on either the shortcut or exe file, open the Compatibility tab, choose to run as XP SP3, XP SP2.......Win 95. While you're at it, make sure Administrative privileges are checked. If that don't work, search for new drivers/apps.

    I prefer the keyboard myself.

I hope WIN+D shortcut still works, just like WIN+L locks the desktop in XP and Vista. Do those shortcuts still work, guys?
