    aircon:

Pro: works even in hot weather.
    Cons: malakas sa kuryente

    cooler:

Pro: works like an electric fan. medyo matipid sa consumption
Cons: increases humidity, does not work in very hot weather.

    Evaporative Air Cooler:
    pro:
    -less power needed to operate
    -cools a big area effectively
    -costs less to buy

    con:
-requires venting of air from inside to outside (change air) because of the rise in humidity. Since the system depends on water evaporation, if the air is very humid, the system will not work effectively. It would require installation of an exhaust fan or similar.
    -requires periodical water replenishment
-water pad needs to be replaced eventually
-recommended water tank draining if algae is growing inside.
-can only cool 5 degrees from ambient temperature.

    AIRCON:
    pro:
-can cool a room to a desired temperature (if sized correctly)
    -simple maintenance

    con:
    -consumes more power
    -more expensive to buy

went to funeral na gamit lang air cooler, nung madami na tao ang init! sobrang humid nga.

in contrast, sa italianni's sa ATC dati dahil outdoors, very effective and cooling yung air cooler.

Evaporative air coolers are effective when used correctly. In enclosed spaces, you will need either an exhaust fan or another A/C unit to condense the water from the air in the room.

Buhayin ko lang to kasi I am interested in buying one.

Do I have to leave my window open in order for the air cooler to cool my room?

well, not really... but you will need some sort of ventilator fan to exhaust the room's air to the outside. Or you can fix the air cooler to use outside air, cool it and blow it into the room (example, install it in a window).
