    For one, PLDT and Globe can use the same last 7 digits and still maintain uniqueness, doubling the nationwide dial-plan capacity.

    Ex.

    If your old number is PLDT 02-344-9898, that same 7 digits can be assigned to a second (or even more) telcos:

    PLDT: 02-8344-9898
    Globe: 02-7344-9898
    Hypothetical 3rd Telco: 02-6344-9898
