Hamilton crashes!
It's a good thing we didn't get caught up in all that Lewis Hamilton hype.
Because, despite seven mistake-free Grands Prix, back-to-back race victories, a 10-point lead in the F1 championship and the ability to heal with his bare hands, the world's greatest driver isn't flawless.
It's true: Lord Lewis has put a whacking great dent in his old racing kart, courtesy of some crash barriers (allegedly Spanish, although the test results aren't yet through) on a bespoke central London racing circuit.
Worst of all, it wasn't even his kart, having just been sold at a charity auction for £42,000.
Hamilton was showing his mad driving skills at a promotional event in Brunswick Square when he overcooked a corner and dinged the back of his kart.
Wired for sound at the time, the superhuman pilot exclaimed, "Woah, that was close!", which while factually not-quite-right demonstrates his keen grasp of the corporate understatement. By way of explanation afterwards, Lewis claimed: "It's tight on this track."
The McLaren team is rebuilding the kart for its new owner, who wasn't present to see its treatment at the hands of the renegade rookie.

June 25th, 2007 02:47 PM #2at least it happened in a go kart.
it would've been a disaster for McLaren if it happens on race day.

Rarely makes mistakes while hitting 200mph plus track speeds but crashes in a go-kart.
Interesting.
IIRC they're with AVID. The reported numbers in the TG article are from CAMPI.
