Hulkenberg and Perez for Force India in 2014

Nov.25 (GMM) Nico Hulkenberg physically signed on the dotted line of a 2014 Force India contract in Brazil on Sunday.

That is the claim of Germany's reliable Sport Bild, as it emerged that the German had until midnight to take up an option granted recently by the Silverstone based team, for whom Hulkenberg raced last year.

The 26-year-old had joined Sauber for 2013 after Force India became late in its payments, but it was the Swiss team that found itself in the deeper financial trouble this year.

ROC cancelled due to political unrest

11:06 – The upcoming Race Of Champions has been cancelled due to political unrest in Thailand's capital Bangkok.

For a second successive year, the event was due to take place at the Rajamangala National Stadium, but 'Red Shirt' supporters of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) had taken to the arena to counter an anti-government protest.

Having assessed the situation over the weekend, organisers ultimately took the decision to call off the competition.

"The Sports Authority of Thailand and the organisers of the 2013 Race Of Champions have announced that the event cannot take place as planned on December 14-15 due to the current political situation in Bangkok," read a statement published on the event's official website.

"Our thoughts are with the Thai people during this difficult period and we wish that a peaceful solution will soon be found. The Race Of Champions has been held all over the world for 25 consecutive years and we are currently looking at options of repeating the success of last year's event in Bangkok on another date.

"Fans who have already purchased tickets for this year's Race Of Champions should contact Thai Ticket Major or their ticketing agent for further information on refunds."

A host of well-known motorsport names were due to attend, including Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, Le Mans star Tom Kristensen, motorcycle racing's Mick Doohan, V8 Supercars racer Jamie Whincup and World Rally champion Sebastien Ogier.

Ross Brawn says he is taking time out & will decide his future within 12 months

Outgoing Mercedes Team Principal Ross Brawn has confirmed that he is taking some time away from Formula 1 and will evaluate his future again in the summer.

After a season of uncertainty over his long-term position at the Brackley-based team, Mercedes announced last week that Brawn would leave on December 31 after three seasons at the helm of the German manufacturer's works outfit.

The team's non-executive chairman Niki Lauda suggested on Sunday that Brawn would now step away from F1 to "go fishing" but expressed the belief that the 59-year-old would return to the sport before too long.
