2013 calendar could drop to 19 races admits Ecclestone
Dec.12 (GMM) It is likely that Formula One’s 2013 calendar will drop from 20 to 19 races, F1 chief executive Bernie has told an Austrian newspaper.
It has been rumoured that Ecclestone was being urged by Red Bull, the owners of the former A1-Ring, to revive the Austrian Grand Prix.
F1 chief executive Ecclestone has already reserved a twentieth race date on the 2013 calendar, in the wake of New Jersey’s demise.
But when asked about the Red Bull Ring being a serious candidate, the 82-year-old told Kleine Zeitung: “Oh, really? Who says that?
“I haven’t spoken to anyone about it.”
When pressed, Ecclestone insisted: “Right now I’m thinking about Istanbul.

The guy who "ruined" Alonso's championship is...
Romain Grosjean is 2012 Champion of Champions
16 December 2012
Romain Grosjean was crowned Champion of Champions for 2012 after beating Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen at the 25th Race of Champions in Bangkok, Thailand. The Lotus F1 driver triumphed in the final with a score of two to nil, adding his name to the prestigious list of winners and making it France’s second victory in a row following last year’s title by Sébastien Ogier.
The result is a vindication for the beleaguered Grosjean, who showed great skill in his first complete Formula One season, but also incurred in the wrath of stewards and fellow drivers alike for a string of first-lap crashes.

Kamui Kobayashi gives up on F1 drive for 2013 season
Kamui Kobayashi has conceded his chances of landing a seat in Formula 1 for next season are over.
The Japanese driver had been pushing hard to secure the funding that would have landed him a drive at one of the teams that still has vacancies.
He had set up a website to help raise funding from fans, as well as making progress with more traditional sponsorship avenues.
But despite raising almost 8 million euros, Kobayashi wrote on his website on Monday night that it was not enough to earn him a drive for 2013, and his focus was now on making a return in 2014.
"I was in the position to bring a budget of 8 million Euro at least," wrote Kobayashi about the big support he had received from fans.

Kamui's year was ruined because Sauber always ran split strategies. Which worked out in favor of Perez more often than Kobayashi.
Shame. He drove a very good year. Hope he gets a reserve seat for a big team, at least mid-season.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
