ECU is standard. Maps are not. No standard map could cover the wide range of engines the ECU is used on... they each have differing characteristics.

Besides, if you force the teams to map out for absolutely full power, that affects engine longevity... so teams and engine suppliers must be allowed to tune their own maps.

In this case, the possibility that the engine maps allow better aero and/or tire conservation cannot be helped. You could design the engine simply to provide that effect... But by forcing the team to select one map and stick with it, it will minimize the gains the team gets by changing those maps from race to race... and since you can't change engines from race-to-race, the unfair advantage is cancelled out. Mostly.

We will see come Hungary. That race will be an indicator of what sort of map Red Bull has chosen, and how things will play out over the back-half of the season.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

If that is the case bro.- then the teams have absolute freedom to tailor the maps for the races. Is that a correct interpretation?

If yes, then IMO, just goes to show how creative, ingenious and competitive the Red Bull team is... CH, AN and the RB team are a class on their own.

    OUCH!

Jul.25 (GMM) Kimi Raikkonen finished Sunday's German grand prix in fourth place.

But in the immediate aftermath of the Hockenheim result, the Finn would enjoy a dose of good luck -- and then a reminder of harsh reality.

When his friend Sebastian Vettel was penalised post-race for the illegal pass on Jenson Button, Finn Raikkonen inherited the podium.

But, according to Bild newspaper, he then crashed.

The newspaper has published a photograph of the 2007 world champion tripping whilst jumping a fence to the paddock carpark, and landing awkwardly on a car.

"Kimi was rushing," said an observer, "as he took a shortcut to the carpark.

"His right foot got caught on the fence and he fell onto a car. He cried out 'f**k' and quickly got up and going again."
