Well, that's why I didn't like it that Schumi's engine blew. Alonso still had a big chance of winning even if it didn't.
Reasons?
Schumi's tires were a big question mark. His pace was not far off Alonso's, but he was obviously slowing down on some laps to conserve tires.
Alonso was roaring. He overtook his way into third place, even before the pitstops. He managed to hurdle Massa, and had a lot of laps left to catch Schumi.
Overtaking may be hard on Suzuka, but Alonso showed it could be done...

Jeff is reacting to the red-boys' assertion that the Suzuka GP was pure luck for Alonso... hmmm... starting from third row, setting the fastest lap of the race, overtaking his way into second before Michael's engine blew... yup, that was all pure luck...
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

October 10th, 2006 04:47 PM #52That's a good one...
Also I may add, Alonso doesnt have to go faster than Ferrari to win.
All he had to do was wait for Schumacher's tire to wear down.
To analyse, in qualifying Schumacher/Massa was doing 1.3 seconds
faster than anyone at the grid and yet by the time his engine blew Alonso
was a mere 5 seconds off pace from Schumacher.
Now 5 seconds may be a big lead but you have to remember Alonso had
a 25 second lead on Schumacher at the Chinese GP and yet Schumi was
able to still win it.
If I had been able to watch the first part of the Chinese GP (bwisit Milenyo yan!!)
when Alonso was 25 seconds leading and you said to me that Schumi still won,
I would have laughed at your face.
So beating a 5 second lead is very doable.

Alonso only had Toyota's between him and the Ferraris. If there's somebody who I will agree that was "roaring" in the race, it was the Iceman. From 11th to 5th. That's a more authentic roaring to me.
Massa had a tire puncture at that time. Puncture, and not threading.
Yes, we all remember Raikkonen's ruthless overtaking over Renault's Fisichella in the final laps in last year's Suzuka GP.
Alonso's "win" was pure luck. It's not the Suzuka GP driving that he did. Even Alonso himself said that he was lucky to escape with a win in Suzuka.

October 10th, 2006 05:43 PM #59C'mon man Give it up. Even I know when I'm licked. You're only
digging your own grave here. And you're beginning to sound funnier and
funnier. I liked you better when your arguments were making sense...
Just wait maybe after the Brazilian GP, when Schumacher wins the driver's
championship you can go back to your winning ways. (in lala land)
Arguing with BoyFerrari is like arguing to a brick wall... A red Brick wall...
