IMO if its gonna be a conventional war and assuming the enemy has no external help, I think its winnable for the AFP.

But if it's gonna be a guerrilla war, which it is. Just ask the Americans about Nam.

DVD vendors and farmers by AM, freedom fighters by PM. Very hard to spot, every kill our boys gonna make they'll be calling the CHR and foreign journalists claiming they're just civilians.

Before you know it you've got every reporter in the world reporting about the violence of Philippine soldiers on civilians.

Then rich muslim nations will covertly supply arms to their brothers with an excuse that their brothers are being slaughtered, then our allies will distance itself from us because of bad publicity. Then unrest in the big cities , riots because of anti war sentiments, you'll see UP students rallying everyday. Some bombings by sleeper cells of MILF in Manila. Of course our daily problems of unemployment, Oil prices and of course our politicians bickering still continue and will use the war for their benefit....

Not a very good scenario

Not really the rich or modestly rich in Mindanao... but the rich in neighboring nations. Why start a ruckus in your own backyard? It's the well-off upper middle class Muslims who are a favorite target of kidnap-for-ransom down there... which is why many emigrate to Manila.

Let's see... on the spur of the moment, send a lightly armed group just out of training to serve an arrest warrant (in the middle of a ceasefire)... then a well-placed informant lets the MILF commander involved know there's a group coming to arrest him.

Then sponsor other violent acts by hired guns and blame it on the MILF... who admit the first one (which was done on their territory) but deny the others are done by their own people.

Then: War. Or: Coup d'Etat... Let's get rid of this President who doesn't give as many kickbacks as PGMA! Perfect!

(Not saying that the MILF escapes all responsibility. The summary execution of the survivors is a heinous act that is inexcusable, especially during a time of ceasefire, and the MILF commander involved MUST face justice!)

And btw, the Spanish tried it for centuries, they have firearms, them moros got kris and bolos..guess what?

Then the Americans, they even created the 45 cal pistol, their standard revolvers at the time just didn't cut it. Them 38 bullets had no friggin effect on them when they do their hurumentado charges.

Fast forward to 2011..

And now they are well equipped, our army aint..your guess is as good as mine.

May point si foresterx but I still think this should be finished now. Kaya kung sa kaya pero maganda nga siguro palitan muna yung mga nasa taas. Kaya naman ng matitira sa middle and low ranks yung "knowing the terrain" to update the new commanders.

Padala kaya Magdalo doon!

Puwede conspiracy theory, puwede din miscom lang talaga or tatang*-tan*^ yung mga commander.
