February 29th, 2008 02:39 PM #31In the end would ABS-CBN be our next president after a coup? The entity?
Whichever way it goes the real winner anyway will be Media.

ABSCBN is a business.
They're income comes from big local and multinational companies buying advertising space.
If a coup screws up the economy, the companies will pull back on advertising spending and ABSCBN will begin to have problems.
ABSCBN sways public opinion against the current govt with its clearly biased reporting. ABSCBN is destabilizing the country.
They dont realize that their lifeblood depends on the fragile stability of the economy.
Sige lang, destabilize the country. Send the economy into freefall.

I have a better idea now. I'll charter a plane and send the family to the US. Then I'll charter another plane, call the chicks up and have some R&R at boracay.

The troops that tried to seize Malacanang (and the famous "Cory under the bed") were repulsed. And as they retreated, shot at the "uziseros" that gathered at the area around Nagtahan intersection. At ABS CBN complex, marines seized the station but couldn't broadcast. Goverment troops were bombed at EDSA by old T-28 Tora Tora. And then the F4 Phantoms flyby along EDSA in the afternoon. Honasan abandoning his troops in Aguinaldo. F-5s strafing runs in White Plains. Then the long seige by Scout Ranger led by Danilo Lim of Makati. Those were the days eh?

February 29th, 2008 09:13 PM #36Well, first hope that it be consumated. (unlike the other "coups" launched by wimps)
Second, that it be led by junior officers not the generals
Third, that it overhauls the corrupt system
Fourth and most importantly, that it be turned over to selected and deserving civilian leaders and to civilian rule as soon as possible.
And last round up the corrupt politicians and gov't officials and sequester all their assets and return them to the state.

Spiritual enlightement ang kailangan dito. Yung tipong enlightenment na may extraordinary intervention. Sobrang baon ang corruption, ineptness, and lack of discipline ang goverment natin bordering already in hopelesness.
