3. Then Cheney nominates Condoleezza Rice as Vice President. The Democratic majority does not yet have enough votes to block the nomination.
4. Then Cheney resigns two weeks later and Rice, a Republican, becomes the first BLACK President!

Actually, the scenario is possible. Succession by the Secretary of State to the Presidency of the US pre-supposes the remote fact that all 3 linear successors (VP, House Speaker and Senate President Pro-Tempore) die simultaneously. Hindi naman automatic na the Speaker will be promoted to VP if Bush resigns and Cheney assumes office. Meaning, kunyari if both Bush and Cheney resign or die simultaneously, the Speaker will become President.

But this close to Obama assuming office in January 2009, malabo.
