‘Intelligent design’ is actually an argument from personal ignorance. I don’t know how this came about maybe an intelligent designer designed it. It’s not scientific because it stops scientific inquiry. ‘Intelligent design’ is also an argument from personal incredulity. I can’t believe man evolved from a common ancestor with apes, we must have been designed by a cosmic creator. There are many things in this universe that we don’t fully understand yet but to try to explain everything through a cosmic designer is a slap in the face of humanity who tries to progress by fully understanding the world around him.

How can you argue that intelligent design is an argument from personal ignorance when the evidence about humans show that one cannot even explain the complexities of the brain, the emotions, etc?

How could one argue that natural selection has out of billions of years of "evolution", natural selection "created" a being that can feel, has logic, can decide what is morally and ethically upright? That it can "invent" or "create" such a thing as purpose, or based on this topic, a God, a religion, a faith even? Can natural selection explain that? Or is it just one of those aberrations that will eventually peter out because it is not essential to human existence? Clearly, faith has been with us since the beginning of time, and it is chronicled through historical writings and even the Bible.

Are we not being arrogant by saying that most of the world who have a belief in a God are ignorant? I know of a great multitude of people who have a belief in God, and are holding high positions in companies and government. Surely, they are not ignorant.

I think the premise on intelligent design stopping scientific inquiry is inherently flawed. What it is trying to say is that science points (and for those who do not believe, will eventually point) to an Intelligent Designer.
