Even if Ninoy had lived the Philippines would still be as corrupt as it is now because the problems are deeper rooted than what one man can fix. The corruption problem isn't just at the top government position but goes all the way down to the traffic cop on the street. Did the corruption stop when Marcos was removed and the opposition took over? No. The only difference with the administration that followed was that Cory didn't steal but her cabinet did and so followed every administration since with Ramos, Erap, and Arroyo all doing their version of Marcos.

As M54 said the best example of a dictatorship is Singapore. But that would require the person that becomes President to execute 75% of government employees and officials for graft and corruption to clean up the problem, maybe then with a clean slate things will change. But the Philippines doesn't have the death penalty anymore so nothing will happen to the people convicted of graft and corruption. Just watch if anything happens to Joey Marquez, even if he goes to prison now the tax payers have to pay for feeding and housing him and he stole their money. Execute him and charge his family for the bullet used and other government officials will take notice of what could happen to them.

Mas dumami pa mga cronies nila...lahat ng negosyo may hati sila...puro white elephants ang nakatayo na project ni Imelda...we will never have heard of a Kris Aquino...Country would still be corrupt and poor

Hmmm... Maybe Ninoy would have eventually become the next President. But then, righteous and just as he may have been, his legacy could still have been tainted by corruption. But yeah, he would've been a better administrator than his widow.

Sad to say widespread corruption's inherent in our society. Someone as strong-armed and clean as Lee Kwan Yew is the only solution to this type of corruption.

Sabi ni erpats, pag d namatay si Ninoy eh baka katulad na din sya ng mga politiko natin ngayon....pinagmumura at kinaiinisan ng taong bayan...swerte daw at namatay sya at naging hero hehehe

I agree with redorange, corruption has been a part of life here in this country that even the lowly barangay captain engages in it....

Kakalungkot...but this is the reality that we are living in....
