so any word yet from the gleaming monarch of them thais?

at this point it makes me wonder w/c he favors more at this point, the masses screaming for a bigger piece of the pie, the historical elite w/c covets to rule once again, or the military who may just give the aging but cash rich royalty (who reportedly has a net worth of some $30 B according to forbes mag) a much needed respite from the raucous 6 month-old street parliamentism of his people

Wala ng political power ang Royal family ng Thailand. And Thai people are very protective of the King. Do not say anything negative/bad about the king. Ready sila pumatay for the king. Very much respected yung king sa kanila

Binigyan na ng blessing ng Thai King sa Military Junta... Ginamitan na ng word "Junta" sa news.

Army chief threatens to get tough with protesters; aims for polls soon

BANGKOK (REUTERS) - Thai coup leader General Prayuth Chan-ocha said on Monday he had been formally endorsed by the king as head of a military council that will run the country, and warned he would use force if political protests flared up again.

He did not set a timeframe for how long the army would stay in power, although he said he hoped to hold elections soon.

Gen Prayuth seized power on May 22, saying the army would restore order after nearly seven months of sometimes deadly street demonstrations. The military has since taken into custody of scores of politicians, activists, academics and others.

“Will we go back to where we were before? If you want to do that, I will need to use force and impose the law strictly,” Gen Prayuth said in a statement he read on television. “You will have to forgive any tough measures as they are necessary.”

The royal endorsement is a significant formality in Thailand, where the monarchy is the most important institution.

Gen Prayuth’s address is likely to provoke conflicting reaction in a country polarised by nearly a decade of rivalry between the royalist establishment, of which Gen Prayuth is a member, and Thaksin Shinawatra, a populist tycoon who broke the political mould.

Gen Prayuth, wearing a formal white dress uniform, said he would set up a council of advisers but gave no details on the form of the new government that will run the country under his military junta, the National Council for Peace and Order.

“The country needs a prime minister. If we go back and look at the past there is a way to do this but there might be some changes to the process in order to create legitimacy,” he said.

The military ousted the remnants of a government that had been led by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Thaksin’s sister, until she was removed by a court on May 7 for abuse of power.

Thailand: Anti-coup protests use 'Hunger Games gesture'

People protesting against a military coup in Thailand have started using a three-fingered salute that recalls a gesture of defiance seen in the popular film Hunger Games, it appears.

The sign, in which the middle three fingers are held up, was used as an expression of silent protest against a fictional authoritarian state called Panem in Catching Fire, the second film in the Hunger Games trilogy. One person, Manik Sethisuwan, tweeted: "Dear #HungerGames. We've taken your sign as our own. Our struggle is non-fiction. Thanks."

There are other theories circulating about the gesture's origins. News website Khaosod tweets that the three fingers stand for liberty, equality and fraternity - the French revolutionary slogan. But the gesture is catching on, and has apparently become so widespread that Thailand's coup leaders are investigating whether to arrest people over it, the Bangkok Post newspaper reports. It seems at least one person may have been detained on Sunday for allegedly making the gesture.

Meanwhile, demonstrators are having to be creative about getting around an army ban on gatherings of more than five people. On Saturday, some protesters staged a "read-in" rally - in which groups of four stand reading books. On Sunday, a flash protest appeared at a shopping centre in Bangkok as activists tried to skirt security forces around the city
