My guess is he'll just let the Hacienda do what it is ordered to do. The only question really is the timing of the order which came right in the midst of the Arroyo brouhaha.

One question lingering in my mind is would the land distribution finally uplift the lives of the beneficiaries for the good? Of course the comfort of owning the land you till is a good but how sure are they it would be put to good use and that they wont just sell it off and become squatters or the land falls to syndicates, etc?

Its obvious that the court action is in reaction to CGMA's warrant of arrest, etc.

Personally, the distribution of land will only get temporary benefits for the beneficiaries because most (if not all) would sell their plots of land to developers or other interested parties for cold hard cash.

anong trabaho dapat gawin ni Pnoy? it's a problem between a private company and the SC...ang dapat tanong anong gagawin ng HLI?

bebenta din ng mga beneficiaries mga lupa nila. ano naman gagawin nila ang liit na, binasag na nila...and they also need to pay back yun utang ng HLI sa SMB daw na 2B since sila na may ari...

mga simple minded lang ang tingin na nanalo yun mga beneficiaries...in the long run they are the losers.

    Always thought CARP was stupid.

What do other countries do to increase farm yields? Go for economies of scale. Give tax breaks so farmers can buy bigger equipment and make sure that crop yields are high.

What do we do? Make sure that no one has land big enough so that you can justify the cost of a combine harvester or similar.

I was watching the newsreels play out this morning, looking at a family of four planting by hand... yup... that's going to last...

The government money will actually go to paying what HLI owes the farmers... but that still frees up HLI's current cash stash for buying back most of the land, if they really want to.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

delikadesa, if it's not on the people in the SC, then this is rock bottom. people forget about limits and the lack thereof. some think they can screw others when they're in legal bounds and think that the ones that got screwed will only fight back within those same bounds. very, very foolish.

Exactly. It will be a difficult task to achieve economies of scale for production and its quite backward to what developed countries are doing where land is vast and mechanical technology helps run things efficiently. They can consolidate and establish cooperatives but knowing how people think, maraming factions ang lalabas yan since everyone will always want to have a say on how things will be run. The militants are likewise waiting on the sidelines most likely.

Will the titles be available immediately or is there a contract or holding period before they can sell it?
