Not surprised by all the hullabaloo. Lakas ng pro-Macoy PR machine sa social media. Fueled by noisy young loyalistas who have no sense of history.

We were bankrupt, and new power contracts required money. Ramos "solved" the problem by selling us in hock, giving out contracts at very favorable terms to the suppliers, and saddling us with the highest power rates possible.

Not like we ever had much choice in the matter. But perhaps now, with a better credit rating and more options for borrowing, newer power contracts can be more favorable to the country.

Yes, browsing through the comments it seems most weren't even born, or at least wala pa sa wisyo nung Cory time, much more nung Marcos time. Kaya hanggang ngayon nananalo pa rin sina Gringo, et. al. not knowing sila ang nagpadapa ng ekonomya noong time ni Cory. The economy was on the uptake being that we were the darling of the press and the international community, until the coup/s happened. And, it was really a series of coup d'etat's so paano naman gaganahang mag-invest ang mga foreign or even local investors with threats like that. Matagal na nga nag-express ng regret ang karamihan ng mga original RAM boys about their roles in those failed putsch. Add then mo pa yung mga Marcos loyalists which greatly agitated investor confidence.

And about that particular comments section, if you're even just vaguely familiar with the first commenter, he's known as some sort of a conspiracy nut in most forums, most notably in PEX.
