May 3rd, 2012 08:24 PM #35Am in favor ONLY if they would build their bases in Patikul Sulu or Tawi Tawi, or any other Island where there are lots of lawless elements. Not anywhere nearest civilizations.

yung balikatan is actually year-round, sinasabi lang na annual event ito.
this ^
meron na sa Mindanao.
also, they moved out of Okinawa to Guam due to pressures from local community (rape issue).
re-establish? it has been established since 2004...google up Cooperative Security Locations (CSL). nasa tabi-tabi nyo lang sila mga kapatid, hahaha. small but effective.
ang balita ko, as the US slowly withdraw from the middle-east and down-size the military, US are focusing on small mobile quick response group...like the SPEC OPS.

used to be a necessity to combat home grown hostilities but currently against our neighbouring countries, di kailangan.
geopolitical issues can be dealt with if asean members focus more on bonding and strengthening ties than an arms race against each other. honestly, asians generally, suck at diplomacy. mahina sa foreign policy. look at our current lineup, mirriam will never be romulo or quezon. japan and china don't give a d*mn about foreign policies, hints of bigotry and extremism for islamic malaysia and indonesia while singapore and taiwan can be regionalistic in some level. and to think asia's best are harvard or oxford educated you would expect otherwise.
besides, the australian defence force has strong ties and existing military agreement with the countries in our region and also beyond like the us and uk. in fact us navy ships are docked at the darwin harbour now and will increase their number and presence further. oz is strategically a multinational peacekeeper for the asean community and has the financial capability and a very good counter-terrorist force to reckon withLast edited by Helios; June 23rd, 2012 at 05:08 AM.
