Yes its banned..in an event of war US nuclear submarines can launch it in our territorial waters
The chinese navy needs to counter that
Espionage isnt limited in the satellite or space domain..sometimes what they see in space needs to be verified on the ground
Missiles launched in the philippine territory can reach china faster than from guam

The US has no land based tactical missile that can reach China, even from the PH... Why would the US need to be in PH waters to launch missiles? They have stand off missiles that can be launched from ships, subs and bombers from China's coastline.
Only Trumpy is deeply pissed at China because it ruined his "best economy in the world" and his chances for a second term.

I don't particularly like China but big props to them for the 4 decades of unparalleled economic growth.
The West portrays them as uncouth, stealing intellectual property rights and all. But if you compare that to the colonialism and slavery that made Europe and the US great, it's a far cleaner way to get to the top if you ask me.
Unfortunately because of the language barrier China will never be as easy to assimilate to as the US was. But I wouldn't be surprised if China becomes undisputed world #1 in the next decade or two.

every tom, dick, and harry knows that china isn't out to invade the WHOLE of the Philippines, that's just overly dramatic and preposterous. it's the strategic locations in the country that they want to control for economic and military applications - think fuga island, benham rise, sangley point, reed bank, bajo de masinloc (aka scarborough shoal), spratley islands, etc .
scrutinize the bigger picture and the main angle is to seize sole control of busy international waterways to not only expand their commercial interests but more importantly, to stretch sino military capacity, specifically their anti-access, area denial capabilities. to be curt about it, if the chinese succeed in being the warlord of the west Philippine sea and the East china sea, it would not only compromise our security but even those of taiwan's, japan's, and south korea's.
beijing has successfully annexed a good portion of the spratley islands w/o firing a shot and similarly, now they've got a foot in the door at sangley point by executing a trojan horse through the guise of the pogo train. they also attempted (still attempting?) to do a similar modus operandi w/ fuga island and the now defunct hanjin shipyard up north via "outsourcing investments" scheme.
anyone who pretends to in- depthly care but doesn't see the possibility of this angle is being naively in denial. you guys have to remember, nothing happens in beijing overnight.
btw, when it comes to military intelligence, nothing beats having assets on the ground and eyeballing their targets upclose.
and another thing , every chinese citizen is required to undergo military training - some basic, some not so basic. now, that's some food for thought.Last edited by baludoy; October 26th, 2020 at 11:58 AM.
