They are thinking about it. Can't tax people if they're not earning much. Short term loan would be ideal indeed given the fact that like us, developing country pa din lang Vietnam.

Though I am curious as why we need so much loan if the government can't even divulge where the money has gone. There is a think tank that made an assumed computation diba at ang dami pa available funds as per their report.

Dami din kasi help from the private sectors eh kaya yung expenses for the frontliners I am sure eh hindi needed full budget because of for example, donations of facemasks, face shield and improvised PPE's, food and water and surgical gloves etc.

Yup, planning is always a good start. Last time I checked, they haven't tapped on any funds yet or I just did not research enough.

Agree with you that our government would just like to get their hands on the money without any concrete plans on how to spend it or willingness to account for it. COA has been effectively rendered useless.

One thing is clear -- this economic recession can be entirely attributed to Duterte's incompetence.
in times like this you need FISCAL SPENDING to make up for PRIVATE SECTOR WEAKNESS to support the economy

what part of that don't you understand?

unlike a lot of people here marunong ako maging objective

i'm capable of leaving political biases outside the door and talk about economics objectively

other people have their biases tattooed already they are inacapable of being objective

    Eto mali ng gobyerno

PH went into the lockdown with 2000 test kits and 1 PCR lab (RITM)

the gov't did not take the virus seriously unlike Taiwan, Vietnam

the long lockdown damaged the economy

the gov't has to fill of the hole left by the private sector

i said this many times na

gov't borrowing and spending is like blood transfusion to keep the patient alive

    ---

hindi lang naman Pinas ang nag lockdown

    madami bansa nag lockdown

so yeah if the gov't acted sooner the lockdown wouldn't have lasted this long and the economic damage wouldn't be as bad

if du30 wasn't president, would another admin have performed better?

similar to Taiwan kaya ang response?

    i doubt it

PH governments have always been reactive never proactive

kahit ano palit mo ng gobyerno we're never gonna get a super competent gov't like Taiwan

NOW i'm gonna ask everyone here what they would have wanted the gov't to do

since everyone here is against the gov't borrowing and spending i guess everyone preferred the gov't did nothing during the lockdown

no DOLE 5000, no social amelioration, no SSS small business wage subsidy, nothing

ano kaya itsura ng economy natin ngayon without that emergency cash injection?
