pansin ko na yan eh, pag ang Amerika naging sluggish ang economy, they'd raise the value of the dollar. pag okey ang economy, they'd still raise the value of the dollar.

Fed zero interest rates and dollar printing (QE)

dollars spread all over the world

    to emerging markets like PH

too much dollars flowed into PH causing USDPHP = 40

    now the reverse is happening

Fed raising rates, dollar printing ends

    dollars flowing back to US

    get it?

as long as the world uses the dollar, the world will be at the mercy of US monetary policy

famous words by John Connally, Treasury Secretary of US president Richard Nixon

“The dollar is our currency, but your problem.”

Sabi ni Nomura low risk pa daw yung currency natin to have a crisis.

    link

    Interested on their methodology, though.

Nomura put us in the same catergory as Thailand?

    We are so not Thailand

    Thailand has current account surplus:

    Philippines has current account deficit:

ok, maybe coz our dollar reserves can cover 7 to 8 months of imports (globally as long as you can cover 6 months you're ok)

but Thailand's reserves are at a much healthier level

thing about the trade deficit is it will eventually self correct

    HOW?

the dollar will get so expensive that it will kill demand

imports will fall and narrow the trade deficit

question is where is the pain level
