sa media they keep saying inflation is rising prices

that's true but that's the effect

    what's the cause?

    rising money supply

more money in circulation = more money chasing goods so prices go up

imagine if everyone was given 1 million pesos cash

everyone will show up at car dealerships, appliance centers, supermarkets, malls etc

    sobra dami tao gusto bumili

    imagine what happens to prices

    --

the question i keep hearing from people who don't understand -- "why don't you just print money and give everyone money?"

    that's what happens

The rising oil prices and declining peso are very big factors that a lot of people already recognize as causes of inflation. Well, at least those who aren't in denial.

Another less discussed factor for inflation is actually consumer psychology - if they expect prices to go up, they hoard in the short run, thereby increasing demand and prices which basically makes inflation a self-fulfilling prophecy.

from the article posted by JUT

ito ung sinasabi ko bad timing ang TRAIN law

kung kailan pataas ang presyo ng crude oil, doon pumasok ang TRAIN

If indeed valid, this theory gives us reason to think President Duterte’s tax reform law (TRAIN) is patently ill-timed.

If you recall, TRAIN included tax hikes on several petroleum products, such as unleaded gasoline, diesel, and kerosene. Unknown to many, TRAIN also provides for two more rounds of automatic petroleum tax hikes in 2019 and 2020.

This policy, to me, is like rubbing salt on one’s economic wounds.

Combined with the fact that global oil prices later this year could reach up to $90 per barrel—because of limited supplies from key oil exporters like Iran and Venezuela—it seems cruel to impose additional tax hikes on fuels come January 2019.

As I always say, you get to know a person better if you meet them in person rather than online.
