i read somewhere that they had to borrow money last year to finance their budget. 80% of their income is from oil so direct hit economy nila. They're picking fights with Kenya and Iran. There's also some turmoil re the succession in the royal family.

i hope this doesn't affect the OFW deployments in Saudi; specifically the remittances.

KINGDOM AGAINST KINGDOM: Is Saudi Arabia headed for crippling civil war?

A prominent Saudi prince, who is said to want King Salman bin Abdulaziz replaced, refused to meet recently with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping, signaling a serious breach in the Saudi royal family and the potential for civil war, a Middle East expert has told G2 Bulletin. Sources previously have told G2 Bulletin that the Saudi kingdom is on the verge of an internal rupture, a latent development in the so-called Arab Spring that has led to violent changes in Egypt, Libya, Syria and Bahrain.

The recent Saudi execution of the prominent Saudi Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr has further inflamed relations with Shiite Iran. Massive demonstrations have taken place not only in Iran but in Saudi Arabia among its Shiite minority, which lives mainly in the country’s oil-producing Qatif region. The Middle East source, a Shiite who insisted on anonymity, said his contacts in Saudi Arabia said the Chinese leader didn’t meet with Crown Prince and Interior Minister Mohammed bin Nayef. However, Xi did meet with Nayef’s deputy, Mohammad bin Salman, the son of King Salman who is said to have ambitions of toppling Nayef and replacing him as the heir apparent.

Map: The Battle for Aleppo - the "Mother of all battles"

Once Aleppo is recaptured, it will significantly deny IS the ability to smuggle oil to Turkey.

In response, Turkey is starting its offensive against Northern Syria to maintain this vital supply route.

In case you missed the attack, here is one of many

In the video above, the artillery battery is deployed: https://goo.gl/maps/to1nKtmDoZN2

It also happens to be the area where the Su-24M was shot down last year.

UN peace talks held in Geneva for ending the 5 year civil war has been suspended to February 25.

As expected, it will be postponed because the Saudi faction has everything to lose if peace talks progressed. They have already poured a lot of resources to the ongoing war to end it with Assad staying in power.

And of course, Turkey will refuse to comply here: Turkey bans Russian observation flight near Syria border

Putin is smart enough to play the moral high ground game in this war.
