Presidents and Vice Presidents were Bar Topnotchers
Manuel A. Roxas - 1st President (3rd Philippine Republic); 1st placer (92%), 1913 Bar Exams (UP)
Diosdado P. Macapagal - 5th President (3rd Philippine Republic); 1st placer (89.85%), 1936 Bar Exams (UST)
Ferdinand E. Marcos - 6th President (3rd Philippine Republic); 1st placer (92.35%), 1939 Bar Exams (UP)
Jose P. Laurel - President (2nd Philippine Republic); 2nd placer, 1915 Bar Exams (UP)
Elpidio R. Quirino - 2nd President (3rd Philippine Republic); 2nd placer, 1915 Bar Exams (UP)
Sergio S. Osmeña - 2nd President (Philippine Commonwealth); 2nd placer, 1903 Bar Exams (UST)
Manuel L. Quezon - 1st President (Philippine Commonwealth); 4th placer, 1903 Bar Exams (UST)
Carlos P. Garcia - 4th President (3rd Philippine Republic); 7th placer, 1923 Bar Exams (PLS)
Emmanuel N. Pelaez - former Philippine Vice President; 1st placer, 1938 Bar Exams (UM)
Arturo M. Tolentino - former Philippine Vice President; 2nd placer, 1934 Bar Exams (UP)
Curiously, each President of the Philippines who happened to be a lawyer was always a bar topnotcher. The other Presidents (i.e., Emilio F. Aguinaldo, Ramon F. Magsaysay, Corazon C. Aquino, Fidel V. Ramos, Joseph E. Estrada and Gloria M. Arroyo) were all non-lawyers (and hence could not have been bar topnotchers). For the coming 2010 presidential elections, among those who have declared their intention of seeking the highest post of the land is Defense Secretary Gilbert C. Teodoro, Jr. Aside from being a Secretary of Defense (like former Presidents Magsaysay and Ramos), Secretary Teodoro (a lawyer from the University of the Philippines) placed first in the 1989 Bar Exams with a grade of 86.185%.
Somehow, it's wiser to vote for a candidate with the better credentials. I just hope that people would not vote for simply on the basis of popularity as they did in the past and make us suffers the like of senators like the Revilla father and son, Lito Lapid and a president like Erap.

Blue vs Green...
Noynoy's Education Attainment
Aquino studied in Ateneo de Manila University for his elementary, high school, and college education, graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. After graduation, Noynoy joined the Philippine Business for Social Progress as a member in 1983. From 1985 to 1986, he was retail sales supervisor and youth promotions assistant for Nike Philippines and later an assistant for advertising and promotion for Mondragon Philippines.
From 1986 to 1993, he was vice president and treasurer for Best Security Agency Corporation, a firm owned by his uncle Anolin Oreta[3]. After, he was executive assistant for administration (1993-1996) and fields service manager (1996-1998) for Central Azucarera Tarlac[4].
Teodoro's education attainment
Teodoro spent his elementary and high school years at Xavier School.[1] Shortly after completing high school, he was elected President of the Kabataang Barangay for Tarlac in 1980 and concurrently assumed Presidency of the Kabataang Barangay for Central Luzon until 1985. He also became a member of the Sanguniang Panlalawigan of Tarlac from 1980 to 1986.
Teodoro attained a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from De La Salle University in 1984. In 1989, he completed his law studies at the University of the Philippines, where he was awarded the Dean's Medal for Academic Excellence. In the same year, he topped the Philippine Bar exams.
For seven years, he honed his skills as a lawyer in the EP Mendoza Law firm. He went to the Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts for his Master of Laws and completed it in 1997. He was also admitted to the State Bar of New York during the same year.

the current presidential aspirants are still a long list but they will trim down as election day nears. here's what i would predict:
1. gibo + puno - administration candidate
2. villar + noli - NP candidate as both are wedenesday club members.
3. noynoy + roxas - LP standard bearer
4. chiz + loren - NPC standard bearer but can drop out of the race as
Danding will tell them to do as Gibo is also NPC member thus would be
cheaper for Danding to support.
5.Erap + ??? - SC will disqualify him out of the race. nagiingay lang ito to
have some leverage for the next admistration. he want to be in the survey
so he can sell those survey point to others just like what he did in 1992.
6. Eddie V , Jamby & BF - are nothing but nuisance candidates.
in summary, chances are ther will only be 3 parties fighting it out at the end with admin & NP having the highest chance of making it as they are financially well done i their machineries.

Setting aside popularity, Gibo and BF team offer the most executive experience and strongest political will. Their mostly non-populist approach to real problem solving does not help them improve their survey points, though, for obvious reason.
Noynoy, on the other hand, appears to be exploiting to the hilt the popularity of his departed mother. He will surely ride on Kris' popularity, as well. Not necessarily a bad thing if his end will justify the means. However, the means one uses indicates the person's character or lack of it.

yup ok mga credentials niya perfect to be president. pero the fact that he is still serving his corrupt president medyo questionable ang values niya.
kung talagang ok siya dapat noon pa hindi na niya tinanggap na maging cabinet secretary ng present administration or dapat nag resign na siya bilang secretary.Last edited by valskie01; September 10th, 2009 at 01:24 PM.
