Ito rin gusto kong malaman kung sino nagsuhol kay Roxas...I WONDER why ABS-CBN mouthpieces are not asking the same question?
Roxas told: Name names
MANILA, Philippines—Who made him do it?
A lawyers’ group Wednesday called on dismissed Court of Appeals Justice Vicente Roxas to reveal who influenced him to act the way he did on the controversial Meralco case in order to complete the cleansing of the judiciary.
Operation Clean Hands Inc., a group of six law firms that combats corruption, said the cleansing would not end with Roxas’ sacking, since those who corrupt magistrates should also be caught and penalized.
“Investigation should be conducted on who influenced, motivated or corrupted Justice Roxas to act dishonestly and untruthfully. It is a safe assumption, based on the circumstances, that Justice Roxas did not do what he did without the enticement or prodding from either a party-litigant, a litigant’s friend, a lawyer or law firm,” the group’s chair, Francisco Chavez, said in a statement.
Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile said Roxas should be disbarred.
“He deserves to be booted out of the judiciary. In fact, he should be disbarred,” Enrile told reporters Wednesday, referring to Roxas.
Chavez said that if Roxas kept his mouth shut, he would be the only one who would suffer from the consequences of his actions while those who enticed him to act a certain way would escape punishment.
But Chavez urged the dismissed magistrate to talk because those who prod justices to do wrong should be punished more.
“It would augur well for his partial self-redemption if Justice Roxas will expose the litigants, friends of litigants, lawyers or law firms who inveigled, enticed and tempted him to be untruthful and dishonest. For, in the order of responsibility, the corrupter is more liable than the corrupted,” he said.
The judiciary has not become totally clean with Roxas’ dismissal because the action “merely mirrors the dirt and corruption that have metastasized almost the entire judicial system,” Chavez said.Last edited by Monseratto; September 11th, 2008 at 01:02 PM.
