From what I know, government still has a right of first refusal over the shares of ARAMCO in Petron. If they choose to exercise it, no sale can be made to the Gokongwei group over these shares. The government has lost control over Petron a long time ago. So, it's not as if buying back the shares will result in any immediate benefits for the consuming public --- especially if the objective is to try and lower pump prices.

The govt has no budget to buy the Aramco stake. (40%)

Mapupunta sa Ashmore ang Aramco stake.

JG Summit wants to buy the govt stake (40%)

the rest is held by the public.

Ano kaya plano ng Ashmore sa Petron?

Ashmore is a private equity firm.

Part of their business is buying and selling companies.

They are not interested in running the companies they buy.

They are just interested in selling them at a huge profit.

the govt cannot do anything about the ashmore bid.

the govt has no plans to buy back the petron shares from Aramco coz the govt has no money for that.

The only thing Aramco cares about is to sell their Petron shares.

They don't care who buys the shares... basta kung sino interesado at may pambayad, ibebenta ng Aramco sa kanya...

E ang may linaw si Ashmore...

    malabo phil. govt.

Why doesnt JG Summit outbid Ashmore for the Petron shares of Aramco nalang?

Para 40% JG, 40% Philippines govt, 20% public.

This is the numbers that I'm praying for...

The government cannot just give up its share to other investor especially foreign...

The Philippines will lose the only remaining leverage against a highly deregulated but still an oligopolistic petroleum market.....

At least, JG Summit is still a local company....

The question is who is behind ashmore? another ahole inside the government who will just simply get a billion peso commison and tongpats? Ok if JG Summit will get all the 40% of aramco or even part of the government share para wala nang bukol and tongpats.

Labas na ang Philippines sa Aramco-Ashmore transaction

Kahit na Petron shares ang pinag uusapan, the shares are owned by Aramco (a foreign company) and being sold to Ashmore (another foreign company)

So malabo na may pumapel na tao ng Phil. govt.

Pero kung yung govt shares ng Petron ang binebenta...

    well, ibang usapan na yan...

meron mga taga gobyerno na kikita jan...
