They can't show that he has been bribed. They can show gifts, but it's very hard to prove that these were "gifts" (the discounted condo) or actual "bribes".

They can show discrepancy in his SALN, but the question is whether the discrepancy is big enough to justify impeachment. The defense's job is to try to minimize the discrepancy and then build a story that the discrepancy is an honest mistake. They're starting to whittle away at it, and while some of the answers raise questions, the issues of ill-gotten wealth are not within the articles of impeachment... so Corona can still luck out on this case.

And the defense is already building a case against ill-gotten wealth to discourage it coming up in future impeachments.

This is what you get when you're too damn impatient to build up a proper case before pursuing impeachment!
I agree. While it may be irrelevant in the impeachment case, Corona is just a small fish in this sea of corruption in the Philippines.

But if you buy the rational of getting rid of corruption through this impeachment case, you might as well wonder why Corona and the SC justices only? When in fact we know most of the corruption happens in agencies under the executive (e.g. customs, DPWH).

you got to start with someone...got to start with an agency...corruption has many forms not just monetary, CJ's corruption is not literally accepting money but the protection he gives to his principal...influence decision to favor a few..that;s bigger than him having many unexplained wealth..at least for me...

how do you know that the admin is not fighting corruptions in other agencies as well? maybe it's not just as high profile as the impeachment case...

small fish, big fish...big corruption, small corruption it's all the same...and and Corona is not a small fish..he's the head of judiciary for pete's sake...

wala naman sa hulog itong sa depensa. ang SALN ni corona ang pinag uusapan dito. tapos kinukumpara sa ibang SALN. ipagtanggol at justify nila ang SALN ni corona, yan ang dapat gawin ng depensa.

It will be funny if they do release the SALN of the Senate... ...of course, the SALN is a matter of public record, right?
