Don't really see the point of the prosecution - I really doubt that many public officials are actually using the current market value in their SALN declaration. You're not going to go to the market and try to get your property assessed each and every time na you file. I agree that the acquisition cost should be included, but all the discussion on the fair market cost was boring and pointless. As Sen. Escudero pointed out, what is fair market value depends on the financial situation of the buyer and seller - a seller who is in dire need will assess a lower market value than one who doesn't need the money. What the prosecution should be trying to do now is to say that the lack of acquisition cost in the SALN is an attempt to hide the properties' true worth.
