defense wanted to show where his unexplained "wealth" supposedly came from... pwede yan strategy nila assuming he kept the whole amount and never spend a single cent..

but they only showed input, they should also show the output/expenditures of Corona. para makita whole picture..

yun P21M income for 10 years...? tama ba? more or less P200k lang monthy, lower pa ng P200k...lets say 200k na lang.. hiow much expenses monthly...???

shock and awe gusto gawin ng defense, dud naman pala, oo nga naman pag nakita ng tao wow, 21M naman pala income ni corona so justified yun pagbili niya ng mga condos...but if you look closely hinde pa rin nagtutugma eh...

yun year na binili niya yun mga condos kung 2.1M income niya that year ha, assuming dahil wala siya expenses...tapos cash on hand niya based sa SALN eh 3M+ lang... paano siya nakabili? kulang pa rin yun pera niya...

pero grabe tax shield ng SC ha..

sa pagkaka alam ko.. tax exemptions should be explicitly mentioned in law... so.. depende kung saan o alin ang basehan ng mga nabanggit na mga allowances na yung ng Judiciary... maaari may basis na tax exempt yun.. pero kung talagang walang explicit exemption provided for by law... questionable nga...
What I'm getting at is, this is something that's not going to get examined too closely. Why? Because both the senators and the congressmen enjoy similar allowances and per diems - and you can bet that they're also not paying taxes on them, AND that they're not using it all up for the purported purpose. Heck, senator Sotto even alluded to it jokingly - "if the defense or the prosecution ask any more questions about the allowances of members of the Senate electoral tribunal, I will have to cite them for contempt".

They're still going to ask how earning exactly as much as one bank account will translate to money enough for several accounts and a condo...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

The bottomline here is the discrepancy or the undeclared cash and properties in SALN. Defense should prove otherwise.

Prosecution sees tax violations in Corona's P21-million allowances

    http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx...bCategoryId=63

“Let’s just assume for the sake of argument that in fact he (Corona) made P21 million in a span of nine years, just on the properties alone that he bought, he and his wife (Cristina) bought – that already amounted to almost P32 million,” Quimbo observed.

Quimbo said Corona reportedly owns four condominium units and a house in La Vista, Quezon City worth some P32 million, and keeps P31 million in three accounts in Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) and Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI), as well as some dollar accounts.

“Even if he did not eat, did not pay his electricity bills, or really zero expenses in the last nine years, that money would not have been enough,” he said.

“Any rational arithmetic, any knowledge of arithmetic will not be able to add up these things.”

Another issue is Corona’s apparent failure to pay various taxes on his allowances and possible misuse and non-liquidation of the allowances, Quimbo said.
