All poor countries have 1 thing in common.
The majority of the people are ignorant. And a minority are very smart, intelligent, and cunning.

sshhh ... baka malaman pa ng mga Amerikano sikret ng P'nas hehehe
most pinoys are ignorant kasi puro lakwatsa, bilyar at green talk at ligawan ang pinaggawa noon kabataan. and the most ignorant of us all are those who believe that graduating is the greatest achievement of all.

June 11th, 2007 01:34 PM #146D naman talaga mahirap ang Pilipinas. The problem is the people running the country.
The goverment have to do something sooner. Or we will be the next poorest country in the world(that having the richest politician).

June 11th, 2007 10:44 PM #147let us not be blinded by the number of malls in the Philippines, the number of pinoys in HK disneyland last Nov 1 or the number nice cars plying Manila streets.....
these are the facts: 40% of Filipinos live below the poverty line (World Factbook). what about those BARELY above the poverty line? some economists estimate it at around 30% to 35%
Because of these two facts, the Philippines is poor...
yan ang masakit na katotohanan

if you all base your perception of the philippines on what you see, then maybe what you should first ask is "is what i see the real philippines?" the shopping mall is not the philippines, it is where middle class (all delineations of it, lower and higher, emerging, trying hard and has been) converge. it is not the philippines, it is only middle class philippines.
a big percentage of the philippine population is poor, living at below $1 per day. you see them everyday, but you don't really "see" them.

i could have been in Phoenix after China, but i chose to be here in our Philippine office for the same reasons. medyo chaotic nga lang dito lalo sa politics, but as long as stable work at kasama family, paradise na rin yon sa kin.
