I actually got a reply from the email I sent to the Israeli Embassy in DC. Before I reply with a follow-on email, there are several things I need:
1. Was it an Israeli carrier/airline?
2. Were the Filipinos also segregated upon entry to Israel or only while at Hong Kong Airport?
3. Were customs in Israel noticeably stricter to Pinoys than other foreigners?
Add: I have taken in interest in this because my wife's nephew had worked previously in Israel. He had a very pleasant time there which contradicts what I'm hearing here.
I also want to make sure it's not the Hong Kong authorities who've had incidents with Pinoys before like the life vests thefts in another thread.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; July 8th, 2008 at 07:09 AM.

I got the following reply from the Israeli Embassy and I quote:
"Again, thank you for your inquiry. We apologize, but we are unsure of
the specific instance you are referring to. The policy of the Israeli
Embassy is not to engage in rumors. If you can bring a specific case
when Philippine Nationals were singled out to our attention we will
further investigate the situation.
Thank you."
I replied back and quoted the thread starter's original post. Hopefully, they're looking into it.

That would be out of their character based on the experiences of my wife's cousin. He worked at a hotel in Israel for a time and had a very pleasant stay.
With this incident, there's really not enough to go on. Do we know for sure that it's Israel and not Hong Kong that's making it difficult for the Pinoys? The fact that it happened in Hong Kong and not at Israel itself raised my doubts. The Hong Kong authorities have had a long history of incidents with Pinoys and their less-than-fair treatment of Pinoys has been noted before. Also, while Hong Kong may seem like it's old British days, it's now under the PROC's watch. Push comes to shove, the PROC is still an authoritarian regime.
Me, I'd at least wait and hear the Israelis' side. Like some said, it may have been security precautions as the main reason. But, we won't know for sure until we hear their side.

Nangyari na sa amin yan ni misis nung nasa Malaysia ( Singapore Airlines ) kami for stop over last 2003. We still holds our Philippine Passport at that time. Bukod tangi ang mga pinoy nakabukod sa isang malaking room. At kung mag toilet ka, di nila pinalalabas, kung palabasin ka man nila me escort ka.
Sorry sila at di sila fluent sa english, nakatapat nila ang misis ko which they have to get an extra people to communicate with her. A lot of our fellow Filipino inside that room were laughing. Kasi naman yung mga malaysian ground stewards and security nag mukhang mga tanga. Hindi kwentong barbero ito. Hindi sila nanalo syempre kaya misis. Kaya I have no respect or what so ever sa fellow asian natin. Kasi minsan sila pa ang malakas mang discriminate sa atin.

I haven't heard anything from the Israeli Embassy since the last time I posted. That could mean it's still investigating or it came to the conclusion that the incident is hearsay. And they'd be right since neither you nor I were witnesses to the incident.
I'd say it's up to your friend to bring up the issue since he was one of those who was affected.

Filipino self-pity. Sheeesh. Stop it. A lot of people love you. Stop trying to act like Westerners. That's why many of the latter are moving to the Philippines. They see goodness in the country and the people that are absent in the West.
