kasi sa resto puwede pumalo ng 100% ang profit. so 7% is negligible. imagine crispy pata at 350+. eh sa palengke wala pa 200 yun. ngaun kung, may volume distro ka pa, baka mas mura pa.

Ito ang quote from Inq7 on this credit card issue but which is also applicable to restos:

The DTI used to be vigilant against establishments like this (calling Teriyaki Boy, Miller in West Ave!!) pero ngayon hindi na. Haaaay... ningas kugon!

yes tama din eto. for a 1k food bill, additional 100+ kagad ang 12% tax. dapat embedded na sa menu ang 12% eVAT kasi under the law dapat ganun eh.

we are slowly entering the plastic money-driven economy like the rest of the developed world. ako nga nagpapa-approve na din sa bangko ko ng credit card system eh, just to compete. kasi people nowadays don't bring large cash na.

for example, if you sell merchandise na may 10k, 15k, 50k and up. swertehan mo na kung makabenta ka ng isa kada isang-araw kung ala ka credit card, lalo na kung small biz ka lang.

the new E-VAT law states that the 12% VAT should be separate from the amount of sale. so in the case of restaurants, if the amount in the menu is VAT inclusive, ihihiwalay pa rin sa OR yung VAT. if the amount in the menu is exclusive of VAT, it should be clearly stated that an additional 12% VAT will be included in the total food bill. in other words, every OR should show how much VAT was paid.

we've been accepting credit cards since 2004 pa, and eversince wala kami nakukuha "cut" dun sa surcharge. basta pagdating ng cheque samin from the bank, kaltas na agad yung 7%...

not sure lang if the "bigger" merchants have better deals from CC companies...

regarding DTI's rule on surcharge, we (our shop) have no recourse but to cease accepting CC payments...

Same here. I wonder how we could deal with banks waiving off the Credit card surcharge.
