on the brighter side, sana nga ituloy nila yan para tigilan ng some unscrupulous chinese traders yun kunwari mababa presyo nila. bine-bait kasi yun customer eh ...

it's high time that our economy stop cut-throat price competition. marketing + quality service dapat. spend on marketing and spend on quality employees.

What the DTI should crack down on is establishments (including restaurants) that charge an extra 12% on top of the list or menu price. May kasamang maliit na * at fine print kasi yung menu na "VAT exclusive".

Ito ang quote from Inq7 on this credit card issue but which is also applicable to restos:

The price tag should be inclusive of the value-added tax for items covered by the VAT. "It is unlawful to charge an additional tax over the price tag," Favila said.
The DTI used to be vigilant against establishments like this (calling Teriyaki Boy, Miller in West Ave!!) pero ngayon hindi na. Haaaay... ningas kugon!
