Agree with you there bro. Credentials may be excellent, but motivations and actions speak on how well you progressed after that.

Again,- God, then Country (and then yourself).

Sadly, this was lost a long time ago.....

in Corona's interview yesterday, i'm not sure if it was a slip or not but there was an admission that it was really an ambition of every lawyer to be in SC and more so to be CJ and he said he will never let the opportunity to be a CJ pass... talagang na by-pass na delicadeza

Update: I saw another argument against the SC ruling on the net. This was blogged by well known lawyer Connie Veneracion:

    http://houseonahill.net/a-world-of-pure-imagination/

Due to its length, I will not post it all here. But the explanation cannot be more elementary. SC has ruled on an issue that has yet to reveal itself at the time of the decision. Which really taints the decision as a political maneuver and not solely based on the law.

Kaya kung ano ano nangyayari dito sa bayan natin .... industriya kasi ang pagiging politiko hindi public service. Milyon --- maybe Bilyong piso na punta sa pagiging opisyal ng politiko.

Stop if from the root cause. Let public office be a service to the public. Tama na ang pag prostitute ng public office.

The provision of the 1987 Constitution is not the problem. Constitution is meant to be read and understood by ordinary citizens and not made exclusively for lawyers. The problem arose because the justices who decided in favor of midnight appointment muddled the reading or interpretation by adding and modifying the provision where vagueness is not present. Ang kawawa yung mga law student ngayon na mag-aaral ng bagong doctrine na kinuha sa kalawakan ng kawalan!
