I remember what I did way back when kumuha ako ng cedula sa Makati City Hall.

    Woman officer: Ano trabaho mo?
    Me: Tricycle driver
Woman officer: Tricycle driver ka? (staring at me in disbelief)
    Me: Oo, bakit masama ba?

She then gave me a Php 25 cedula!

A century after Bonifacio, hated ?cedula? still here | Inquirer Opinion

Commissioner Kim Henares of the Bureau of Internal Revenue said the cedula, or residential certificate, serves no useful purpose except to squeeze more money out of citizens for the benefit of local government units that issue them and collect the fees

That's true! Even when you try to use it as an ID nobody will accept it.

Funny thing about it was During the Middle Ages, Serfs only paid 10% tax. If the ruler raised it any higher, they will rebel and put the monarch's head in a guillotine/stock/chopping block.

Looking the way things are now is just depressing.
