How do you polish/clean your leather shoes?

Kindly share how you clean and polish your leather shoes. I'm more of a sneaker and rubber shoes kind of guy kasi. :twak2:

Madalas KIWI shoe polish lang.

used to use Kiwi Liquid Shoe Shine until someone advised me against using it.

so dun sa mga really expensive leather shoes, damp rag and this leather cleaner na nakuha ko dun sa may gateway.

for quick shine, my bro uses armor all.

not sure if it has adverse effects on the shoes tho.

i used to use kiwi also, pero after awhile nag crack yung leather nung shoes ko. Now i just use the leather cleaner and enhancer na same brand ng shoes ko, and so far it works well naman. for everyday cleaning, rag lang or brush.

ang sabi ng iba, its the alcohol content ng mga instant shine that causes the leather to dry up and eventually crack.

kiwi lag din ako... how about ung nag fade na color? i mean natanggal ung pagka black niya kasi nababasa? pano ibabalik un?

how about for nubuck shoes? medyo wla na ko nakikitang kiwi nuback cleaner.

shoe polish is good. pero from time to time (once a year) clean your shoes with kerosene. this will wipe off the accumulated wax. minsan yung cracks na nakikita natin e hindi talaga sa leather kundi sa dried wax. turo yan ng kaibigan kong sapatero.

yung kiwi liquid wax hindi advisable as it makes the leather brittle.

and never dry your shoes in direct sunlight

Totoo yan.....napansin ko lang, pag madalas yung gamit mo ng Kiwi, pag nag patong-patong na yung applications (yung liquid), kumakapal yung leather, eventually, nagka-crack na yung surface ng sapatos.

Kiwi shoe wax ever since.

I clean leather shoes the old school way. Yung sistema ng mga shoe shine boy sa mga kanto.

1. Wipe off excess dust & dirt using a damp cloth.
2. Apply a thin layer of shoe polish (wax, kahit yung cheapo brands) with a dry cloth wrapped around the index and middle finger.
3. Let shoe polish dry.
4. Brush shoes to a shine.
5. Buff shoes with cotton cloth for added shine.

Kung express shine eh Kiwi na lang. hehehe!

For nubuck shoes:
- There are spray cleaners for nubuck shoes (can't remember the name).
- Use a brass brush para gumanda ulit yung surface ng nubuck shoes.

Dalhin nyo lang po sa Mr. quickie yan para umitim ulit then wax na shoe polish ang gamitin nyo na pang-linis para hindi na mawala yung kulay at may protection pa kapag nababasa. Wag po yung liquid wax katulad ng Kiwi.

Same here. As per my earlier post, I use Kiwi shoe wax. Tamad lang ako mag-type kanina! hehehe!

for leather shoes
kiwi wax not the liquid type, wipe with cloth, and brush, store in box and in a cool dry area, if your not wearing your leather shoes for a period of time put in japanese paper inside to absorb moisture and prevent the shoes from cracking

for nubuck, suede
use a stiff camel brush, bought mine at colehann, to clean your shoes, then spray a water repellant(also from colehann)before using
when your nubuck got some scrapes or colored scrapes, use eraser to clean that area before the camel brush

I had a Florsheim shoe dati na pina linis ko at na shine pa ni Mr. Quickie.. ang resulta, nasira.. nag crack din yung leather.. must've been the solution they used to clean / polish..

after that.. I asked the Florsheim store kung saan maaari magpalinis ng sapatos nila (or repair for that matter).. they referred me to Besa's (may branch sa basement ng Shangri La Plaza Mall)... okay naman gawa nila.. yung shine.. so far di pa bumitak yung leather ng shoes ko...

By scrubbing it at the back of my pants... :grin:
