June 14th, 2004 10:28 AM #11jaym, its your money, so you should do what you think is best, but let me just give you my personal opinion (again)
i was in the same dilemma a few months ago. i was choosing between a brand new 4x2 hilux (with bank financing pa talaga) and a gen 2 pajero (cash pa gyud kasi over 5 years old na).
i got the gen 2 pajero for a number of reasons, mas malakas ang dating (pogi points), more seating (may pickup na kasi dad ko, so pwede mahiram if i needed the bed), turbo na sya, more potential for aftermarket parts like a lift and 33" mud tires, more room for sounds, and of course it is 4 wheel drive (probinsya kasi ako, so 4x4 is a plus factor)
that is just my opinion though, happy diesel hunting

June 16th, 2004 06:00 AM #12andy, dont really have money for brand new.. i have abt 450-500.. planning to spend 350 on the vehicle lang tapos ung iba sa rims, tires, sound system and iba pa.. kaya 2nd hand hilux lang siguro kaya.. and kaya ko din gusto diesel nun kasi matipid.. i heard bigger suvs like the pajeros consume hecka lot of gas.. doesnt matter if 4x4 or 4x2.. madalas city driving lang naman ako..

At 350-400K, you can probably find a '99 Nissan Frontier 4x2 later this year at that price but the condition is a question mark.
At that price, i'd go for either that or a old Pajero (diesel fo course)

June 16th, 2004 10:31 AM #14from my experience and the input of others, gen 2 pajeros usually consume 7 to 8 kms per liter of diesel city driving and 8 to 10 kms per liter of diesel highway driving, depending on driving habits.

500K + 350K = 850K... Pasok naman pala sa buget mo yung 780K na Hilux 4x4, with Simex tires, TJM bumpers with winch, XGS shocks and 4" lift by TJM suspension parts. :D

pres; ang budget nya ho yata is 500. 350 lang balak nya gastusin sa suv then the rest of the amount sa tires, rims, sounds, etc. Correct me i'm wrong.

June 16th, 2004 08:33 PM #18kuha ka nalang ng ln106 Hilux 4x4 tapos wheel/tire package and decent sound system muna... unti untiin mo yung mods mo para di masakit sa bulsa. i think swak pa rin yan sa budget mo sir. Plus u get a reliable 4x4 na pwede mong pangsabak offroad talaga hehehe
or get a 2nd hand 4x2 frontier nalang.
2 cents lang po

June 17th, 2004 10:34 AM #20first generation strada na lang pare
tapos you can put a surplus intercooler and do the washer mod, good to go ka na. plus with the extra cash, you can lift it and put a nice tire and wheel package on it. mura pa ang maintennance
