The cage uses 2 types of tubing (2.0" and 1.25") These are all thick gauge galvanied pipe which we bent using a "mandrel" type process. Since we dont have a mandrel bender, the pipes were first filled and packed with sand and the ends were sealed shut. After sealing, we heated the areas that needed bending and heated those sections before we used a regular bender. This way, the pipes did not collapse and maintained their original diameter. This needs to be done slowly or else the walls will collapse and you will have the same effect as those on regular exhaust pipes. Once the pipes were all bent to the proper shape, we assembled them. The thick pipes protect the cabin while the thinner pipes serve to protect the body from trail damage. If you pay close attention to the whole cage, you will see that the pipes maintain their cylindrical shape all throughout. Hope this helps.Last edited by Wolverine; August 12th, 2003 at 06:46 PM.

boybi,
It's for protection. Just in case your front tire slips off a rock para hindi madurog ang rocker panels mo. Also great of medyo matalim ang crest ng hill and pwede pang jacking and recovery point.
Here is an interesting discussion on roll cages:

Yup, parang stepboards lang to the untrained eye. Only difference with this stepboard is that it can support the full weight of the vehicle. hehehe.
Pwede pang jacking point!
