odell::: Welcome to tsikot board!
Better do the submarine thingie when you think that the vehicle is sealed enough, some water did get the ridge of my carpet wet but at the end of the trail it was unbelievably dry. Pati yung headlight housing pinasok ng tubig. Signal lights ko basa din. But there was no damage to the engine or what so ever. :D
I could say that even with sound setup, it could still be safe to have them on. But don't stay in the water submerged too long. Water could sip in to your flooring in just a matter of seconds. Just make sure all the rubber around the dorr jambs are tight enough.

odell,
Isa lang tatandaan mo sa off-roading. DO NOT STEP ON THE CLUTCH!!! Madali sabihin mahirap gawin. You only depress the clutch when you need to stop. You can even start the engine in first gear without stepping on the clutch. Astig. hehehe.
Dalawang klaseng Patrol ang ginagawang Hammer. Yung kay Ungas and yung long body model that preceeded it. Unfortunately, may mga ibang mods na hindi nagagawa in-house like the ARB diff locks and multimedia set-ups. Pero suspension and winch yakang yaka nila. Tawagan mo na lang si Jappy. Mabait iyan. Busy lang with law school lately.
A Hammer will not look out of place anywhere. I actually brought one (a yellow one at that) to a party. Head turner talaga. Bigatin ang dating.
I had to be winched out of a river once.
Amazingly, most of the OEM wiring is designed to repel water. Usually, yung mga made in Banawe na electricals (like the anti-theft, sound set up) ang bumibigay. Tignan mo mga connectors na OEM puro locking and sealed.

Wala namang nabasang wirings when I dipped the Safari last time. I was even surprised the the alternator was still working.

I asked the alternator people and they said that the alternator will not get damaged even when immersed in standing water. Ewan lang nila kung running water na. Just hope that no debris (rocks, dirt, mud) makes it into the alternator kasi yun ang sisira sa alternator.
Sometimes keeping water out is not the solution. But you need a way to let the water out afterwards. Drain holes are a blessing from above.

Kapag tinapakan mo clutch, maghihiwalay yung clutch at flywheel.
Starting in gear is usually done kapag namatayan ka in a precarious position.
Walang external except for the battery. Pati ground ko nasa loob ng cabin. Lumipad sub box ko once. Ok pa naman when it landed.
